I started out with a Elementary Teaching Degree and after an Associates switched gears towards nursing....It's always good to have a backup plan. Considering how competitive nursing programs are I like the idea to have something to fall back onto if I won't get accepted into an RN program. Patience is the key....try to wait and see if you get accepted first, I think it's too early for you to worry :wink2: Good luck and concentrate on the here and now !

I was going to do nuc med before switching to nursing. The standards were a bit higher (because there are so few nuc med schools) as the job requires great understanding of math and chemistry, but it's on the boring and slow side. I shadowed a tech and decided... even though the money is better, that it's not what I want to do.

I'm considering a back up major as well incase I cant get into the Nursing program. I should have my pre-reqs all done by next spring and then I'll have nothing to take while I wait to get accepted. I'm also considering a minor degree if that happens so I will have enough classes to take if I have to wait to get into the program.

Do what you want to do and follow your heart. Good luck in whatever you do. I honestly don't know much about those fields, but they sound interesting. If you don't get into nursing, maybe later on you can get into one of those accellerated programs that offer nursing to those with other bachelor's degrees.
