RN Responsiblities

hello,

i'm in my prereq. classes right now, and was wondering as a nurse do you feel like you have to remember very much. or are things given as you go. :)

There is quite a bit to remember. Because of the nursing shortage and facilities understaffing we are forced to prioritize patients very often. Therefore when you address 1 problem you have 3-4 that you have to remember. Also you have to remember treatments, medications, assessments, labs, x-rays, etc. You do have unit secretaries to help you but often the RN is responsible for making sure everything is done.

There is a lot to remember, but a lot of becomes natural in time. The stuff that you can't remember you can research. There are nursing journals to keep you up-to-date.
