Ya know all that talk about 'are your fellow students serious' made me notice things in my Microbiology class. I hear people talking after exams or after they get their grades and its usually bad. People are like I just hope I get a 'D' and others are like 'I just hope I pass". The other night the instructor had everyone come up one at a time to see their exam grade in his grade book and the most on top of it, obnoxious students were like 'oh my god'. Suprising!

One of the girls who sits next to me was like' will that keep me out of the program if I get a 'D'? and Im just thinking YEeea!? What program are THESE people applying too that they think they even have a chance with a 'C' or 'D'? Because I wanna know where it is!

I know everything about all the programs in my tristate area Im so obsessed with it. I freak out about getting a B in Statistics because I know it may not be good enough.

Granted most of these people are just applying to local community college programs and not BSN like me, its STILL GPA at the comm. colleges!

So I guess the point is dont be too depressed by the amount of applicants schools say they have, chances are half of them have average grades or are clueless. Shoot I still wanna know where this school is that accepts people who have C's and D's??????? I'll apply.

I'm at a community college in Phoenix, and a D is as bad as an F. I know I wouldn't want a nurse that is happy about perfoming less than average to work on me! I suppose that's why statiscally only half make it through the program.

The basic requirement here is "C" ..... but the way I understand it, that is the bare minimum and if you actually want to be accepted, you have to have high B's/A's.

That IS kind of horrible. I can't believe the way some people talk either .. some are so obnoxious (both ends of the scale).

As a BSN graduate I'd like to respectfully say that it is usually much more difficult to get into a community college ASN program than a BSN program. This is because of the large numbers applying to community colleges as opposed to the lesser numbers to the BSN program for about the same number of spots. The requirements are as high, and there are more applicants primarily because of the cost, not lower standards.

I wouldn't go to a school where they accepted "whoever"! That wouldn't say much for the quality of the program, but I know what you're saying though.

I used to be that person, "Hey a C is passing!" ...At least I was like that at 18 with a newborn, trying to be a young mother going to college right out of high school.

Now, at 31, the cc I applied to only took 4.0 students, that is fierce competition to a highly reputable program.

As far as "I just wanna pass", I say that too, but the difference is, I say that and have made A's on all the courses. LOL I tend to get a little stressed about my grades, hate the class, etc, until I'm finished and I see that nice, big, fat, "A" on my transcript.

Those people will grow up eventually (hopefully), but sad to say, it may be 10 years from now when they realize they totally messed up!

Standards are FALLING!

You need to find a quality college that requires a/b to graduate and has a 95% pass rate on the boards

Wow. At the CC where i am, a "B" is a borderline disaster if you want nursing. There are too many people that just don't get them. A "C" in one of the core sciences might as well be an F.
