Landing a job with an ADN?

I finally decided that nursing is what I want to do and I want to get working as soon as possible and move out of my parents house (I'm 25). So I plan on going to my local community college in Huntington Beach, CA (Golden West College) and get my ADN. I want to either get a job in southern California or in the Phoenix, AZ area after I graduate. Will I even be able to find a nursing job with just an ADN these days? Also what kind of starting pay am I looking at? Thanks for your help.

ADNs are preferred in some settings. Less likely to quit within two years to go to anesthesia school or become an NP.

You'll find a job. Yes some places PREFER a BSN but plenty of ADN grads are getting great jobs. Pay will depend where you land. Good luck

I can't speak to Arizona or California, but I have not seen a hospital anywhere in my area (East Coast Mid-Atlantic) that prefers ADN to BSN on any unit. ADNs can get jobs here, but BSNs are preferred. Many of the hospitals in my area offer tuition benefits for RN-to-BSN and graduate degrees.

I second this BSNS are preferred they even , write it in the job posting it's very intimidating to me:(

I live in Phoenix. I graduated in December 2017 with my ADN and passed boards at the beginning of Feb. I got offered a job this past Tuesday (Feb. 27th) and start on the 12th.

I applied for for a position that preferred BSN but also said will consider ADN. I was offered the position during the interview. So, yes you can get a job. I was offered $26.76/hr and will work nights so the differential will give me an extra $4/hour.

You just have to keep keep your options open, have a great resume, CV, and blow them away during the interview.

Good luck!
