How to get nursing experience as a student

Hi i was wondering how to get experience in nursing as a pre-nursing student. I start nursing school this fall and I was wondering how to become more involved in nursing until I start.

Is it possible you could try to become a CNA over the summer? Obviously, you won't have "nursing" experience because you would have to be a nurse to get that. All you really need is some experience with bed side care as an aide and that should open some doors for you. Also, you could volunteer at your local hospital.

Yes I could do that ill look into becoming a CNA & being an aid for bedside care for the summer thank you very much! :)

PCA or unit secretary is the usual starting point for nursing students in the hospital. It seems that most of them are in nursing school and when they graduate they make an internal transfer to a nursing position.

While it's not nursing experience I second the poster that recommended becoming a CNA. The personal care you will provide and gaining experience dealing with a variety of patients at their most vulnerable will be invaluable to take with you into a nursing career.
