VA called my references what's next?

Hello y'all,

I was interviewed at Veterans Affairs around 4 weeks ago, yesterday they called my references asking about me and they asked them for their mailing address because their going to send them a questionnaire.

I'm wondering what that means? Because I know that they are not going to invest time and money, calling my references if they are not interested in hire me.

Please can you share your experience with VA hiring process?

What's next after they call your references ?

Thanks and have a great day!

Anyone?

Anyone?

You get hired. Then fired. Then you fall in love, move away to someplace tropical, and forget about it all. That's my best guess.

Guys please can someone share with me your experience with VA hiring process?

Once they get the replies back from the references and background, I think you will then find out your salary. The hiring process from interview to first day is like 4-6 months.

Thanks so much for the info!

RafaCordero, did you get the job?

Once your references return the questionnaires and they are favorable then you should receive a tentative offer which you should then accept as it’s only tentative. The your application goes before a review board and they decide on an annual salary to offer you. Then you receive an actual offer which you decide to accept or not. If you accept the offer then a start date is set. Just some FYI RN probationary period is 2 years and LVN and CNA 1 year. Be patient it is a slow process I applied in October got tentative offer in January and started in April hope this helps. Oh and don’t give notice at current job till you have then money offer

Any luck yet?? I just interviewed last Thursday and got a call the next day and said they were impressed and pleased with my interview and they need a reference from my supervisor. About 2 or 3 business days later my supervisor texted and said she gave an excellent reference of me and I'm just waiting...LOL any insight?

The VA moves really slow it’s in HR’s hands now.  It was about a month and a half between when the check my references and I got my tentative offer letter and the another 2 weeks before I got the actual money offer.  It too almost 3 months total from the time I interviewed till I got my official offer so just keep being patient

Thanks so much!! Yeah, it's kinda made me nervous because everything has been speedy until now. I know there are other applicants and 2 openings, but it's usually a good sign when they call you back saying there were pleased and impressed with your interview and then try so hard to get your references contact numbers and contact them like the next day But nothing is set in stone yet, I guess LOL
