RN-BSN Completion time

Hello all,

I am considering this program and would like to know how long it takes to complete it. I have a previous Bachelors and I anticipate only having to take nursing courses.

Based on your experience, how fast can I complete this program?

Thanks for all your help!

In my area there is an accelerated nursing program you can do that theoretically takes 16 months. Even though I have a bachelor's too I would have had to take chemistry and math prerequisites to get into it, so fastest possible would be 20 months. It costs $54k. I decided to go the long way instead so I could graduate with no debt.

When I am done, it will have taken me 2 years. I had to take 5 of the additional "pre-req" classes so I was not in the same boat as you. I started in August 2015 and will graduate in August 2017.

It depends how dedicated you are, honestly. If you work 3 12's that schedule works better for being able to complete school faster. Half way through the program I switched to a M-F 8 to 5 job and (to me) it just made it more difficult to set aside time for school work. Some classes you do not want to double up on - Health Assessment, Public Health, and Nursing Research are all very heavy classes. I wouldn't say necessarily hard, just have a very heavy workload. Also remember that you will not be able to register for your Capstone until you have completed all your requirements. It's a pain in the butt because I literally have 3 more classes and registered for 2 of them over the summer but they won't allow me to register for that class until those are completed. I'm worried it might fill up because it is showing that it is already half full. Just keep that in mind.
