  1. I will echo what everyone says about the psych ED. I love it and I am never bored. Some days, when the census is low, the days can be kind of slow. But for the most part, no two days are alike. Granted I have only been there for six months. But so far so good.
  2. I am in psych. Any insight on how in depth the pharm is?
  3. Any insight on how in depth the pharm is?
  4. If I remember correctly, only for your sciences.
  5. Hi Friendlyelse, I have an interview with them this week. Do you have any tips regarding the pharm/dosage quiz ? Any tips for the interview? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
  6. No prep class, just a prep book they give you. Interview was about 1/2 hr with the program director. Standard interview questions, be prepared to elaborate on your essay. I don't really remember too much about it.
  7. You still have to take the NLN. As far as transfer credit goes, as long as they are recent you shouldn't have a problem transferring them. But in regards to your sciences, you will have to test out of those classes even if you have taken them previously.
  8. For gen Ed courses, yes.
  9. I used the Kaplan qbank, NCLEX mastery app and YouTube to brush up on content. Passed in 75. Kaplan prepared me well, but I hear that uworld has better rationales for their questions. Regardless of what you use, read thoroughly through the rationales because that's where the learning happens. Best of luck to you.
  10. NurseLyndsay, thank you for your advice. When it comes to didactic learning, I am an independent learner, meaning I like to read and digest the information. That being said, I still would want my program, online or not, to be organized. I'm sorry that your experience in graduate school is not pleasant. I guess I have a lot of research to do regarding schools.
  11. Thank you Curlygirlie. I hear preceptors are hard to obtain on your own. Hopefully I can find a school that provides this.
  12. TheOldGuy Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately the inpatient position is no longer available but I did accept the position in the outpatient clinic( The only job offer I have to date). But I will be looking to broaden my experiences in order to better prepare me for graduate school. Also, I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I have been in NCLEX mode and just took it yesterday.
  13. Thank you all for all of your advice. The outpatient position is Monday- Friday. Since my last post, a few things have changed. I no longer have the opportunity to work at the inpatient facility as the position was given to someone else. But the good news is that I took my NCLEX yesterday and finished at 75. I also still have to opportunity at the outpatient clinic where I will start working in August. Ideally as a mental health NP I would like to work in an outpatient setting, but I want to be able to recognize acute manifestations of mental illness. This is where the inpatient experience will come in handy. I am thankful for the position that I am given and hopefully somewhere down the line I will get some inpatient experience. Thanks again for all your help.
  14. Thank you all so much for your help. It looks like I may be in an inpatient setting by the sound of you guys. I really appreciate the advice!
  15. Hello all, I am a new grad with an opportunity to work in either an inpatient behavioral health unit or an outpatient behavioral health clinic. My goal is to become a PMHNP but I am not sure which position to take. Which setting do you think would best prepare me for graduate school and/or my role as a PMHNP? (Just for context, the inpatient position pays significantly more and the schedule is three 12's prestigious hospital. The outpatient position is at a Non profit organization, salaried and five days a week.) Thanks for all your help!
