How long after an interview for an offer?

I had an interview at Hackensack UMC this morning with the nurse manager of the unit. How long after the interview does it typically take before I get an offer/ rejected?! I'm so nervous I already turned down all my other offers because I was sort of banking on this one.

There's really no telling. I know of people who were called the next day and other times it can take a week or longer depending on other scheduled interviews and getting the offer approved through HR.

This doesn't help you now .. but for others reading this thread and maybe for you in a future interview ...

"When can I expect to hear back from you?" is one of the questions you should ask towards the end of an interview. Then, if you don't hear anything within a few days of their answer, you have a legitimate reason to call them and ask.

Assuming you didn't ask that questions when you interviewed ... I would :

1. Write your thank-you notes immediately after the interview and say that you look forward to hearing from the soon.

2. Check in with Human Resources in 7-10 days to be sure they have all the information from you they need. At that time, you may be able to ask what their timetable for filling the position is.
