Zofran and SSRI'S

My study group were going over meds and we got to the antiemetics. Zofran is considered a serotonin receptor antagonist. Should we be looking out for drug interaction between Zofran and SSRI's?

Thanks

Read up the nursing implications for the meds in your drug guide and see what your pharm text has to say. Are they routinely prescribed together? This is a good example of a possible pharm area question.

I doubt it... one is a receptor antagonist, and the other blocks them from being taken up. They might not work as well together, but when I search in the online interaction lookup, I find nothing that says you couldn't take Zofran and Zoloft together. I didn't try all of them, but those two seem to be representative, so it's probably not an issue. Just an educated guess...

Good question, I'll look forward to any other answers!
