Your Thoughts Please on new CM job!!!

I can NOT imagine being so culturally disrespectful in any setting and I agree, as nurses if we expect the doctors to respect our profession and judgement, then we owe them the same ... no matter their ethnic origin. Is this with an insurance carrier?

NO! Believe it or not, it is with one of the largest and most "respected" hospitals in the area. I was impressed at the new employee orientation; treating others with respect was highlighted and I thought "this place is great!" Things seemed great at first. Boy, was I wrong. I'm shocked to say the least. I don't think anyone would believe me unless they saw this. The CM even treats patients rudely. I just dont' get it. While this CM is the rudest, they all have issues, except for a couple of the newer employees. I guess I'll just put in my time and get out. This just isn't the way I choose to live my life or make a living! I think any employer would understand this, but you can't look for a job and trash your employer, so I'll probably be questioned as to why I'm leaving if I stay less than a year! I'll have to think something up! Oh, what a mess!!

How much interaction is necessary for you to do your job? I know what a pain it is to work in close quarters with staff who have no tact or basic social skills. If you left would you try to go for another CM job in another setting?

I guess because I'm so new there's more interaction than there will be; however we have a ton of meetings together. I spoke with another new CM this AM and she had the same experiences with the CM who is extremely rude! Apparently she was making those same type of "jokes" when some of these "terrorist" doctors were around. The new CM said she was going to get her year in and then leave. I suppose I'll try to do the same. Isn't it amazing? Trust me, you'd have to see/hear it to really believe this! I was warned about her remarks, but when I actually saw it happen, WOW! Maybe life will get better, but I think eventually she is going to do this one too many times and she'll be fired. That should have happened a long time ago!

The rude one won't be fired, for one thing she is friendly with the boss, and secondly somehow really unpleasant people seem to stay put and become the cause of people leaving. Which management can never seem to work out!

I'd stress your individuality with these doctors and ensure they know you don't share her views, without making derogatory remarks about her, simply because things can get back and bite you on the bum.

I hope you can focus on why you applied for this job in the first place and what you hope to learn, try to get something positive from the experience.
