Call your local SNF and ask. They'll know.

I know in CA you have to show proof that you are 18 to become a CNA. Yeah I would call a LTC facility and find out as the previous poster said.
Not to sound stupid, but what does SNF stand for? thanks

SNF stands for Skilled Nursing Facility. We have 16 and 17 year olds who have been Massachusetts state certified working in the facility I work in. Labor laws dictate how late and how many hours they can work.
What state do you work in inquisitive one?
I work in Masachusetts. A local vocational high school teaches/trains students to become CNA's. Our SNF / long term care facility is one of their clinical sites. It's a great way to get future employees. It gives them exposure to our work environment and many choose to work with us. I don't remember if they are already certified when hired or if they become certified after hire. I know there is a 3 month time period in which to get certified once hired. My facility also has all CNA's go through our own training program, classroom and clinical. After training they are put on the floor with a seasoned CNA for about a week until they are ready to be on their own.
