Hi guys, I'm 5 classes away from being able to do my HESI and then apply for the nursing program. My college has about a 2 year waiting list, and although it's a little discouraging I plan to take classes that can go towards my bachelors degree in the meantime while on the wait list. Has anyone else experienced this and been put on a 2+ year waiting list? Was it worth it? I'd love to hear your experiences!

You can finish an ADN in that amount of time and start then working while finishing your BSN online and having your employer pay for it. ?♂️

Hello thanks for your answer! The ADN is what has the 2 year waiting list.
My next answer is move but I know that’s not always an option lol

Work on CEP pre-reqs which I believe it sounds like you're doing. As I'm sure you know by now CEP people aren't wait listed, just apply each round.
Obviously once HESI is done, apply immediately for the general wait list to get your name in the pool, work towards CEP in meantime & whichever you get in first, straight ASN or the ASN CEP, take it.
I went through GCC myself, so I understand your plight. As luck had it, my first round applying to CEP I was accepted. With the right grades & HESI score, that could be you as well. Good luck. Itll come before you know it.

Thank you for your response, this was incredibly helpful! ☺ I had been taking classes for the CEP program at CAC and since recently switching I just now read that CGC offers the CEP program as well! It said there was no waiting list for the CEP people and your comment confirms it. Which CEP program did you end up getting accepted to if you don't mind me asking (MCCD/ASU, MCCD/NAU etc.)?

I'm also on the 2 year waitlist to go to MCC for the ADN program, for me it works out great because I need to pay off my credit card debt (which 2 years is about how long it will take me to do so unless I win the lotto ?) and even though I have all my prereqs completed I'm using the next two years to retake the science classes because I took those over 10 years ago. But I agree with MiladyMalarkey, the CEP program will get you in much faster and you finish with both your RN and your BSN.

I went with the MCCD/Ottawa route. At my time then, NAU & Ottawa were the cheapest and you graduated with both degrees the same semester. NAU had more pre-reqs I wouldve had to take, where Ottawa allowed me to do them as co-reqs, hence why I went with them. But I had a fantastic experience with them and ultimately didnt regret it & got a job immediately. Really all the universities are great, you may take slightly different routes with them, but they all get you to the same destination, your BSN. So whichever CEP program fits you best is what I encourage you to go with.

Thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it! After long consideration and a little research I decided I'm going to go for Ottawa! It is cheaper and has less prerequisites like you mentioned with the exception of a few classes you can take as co-reqs ?. You finding a job right after is great news and gives me a lot of hope! Fingers crossed I will be able to apply by the end of next year!
