I know that Upenn has a one year program. Are there any other 1 year programs out there or say 15 months?
Thanks,
Soliant

UPenn's FNP program is 16 months, not one year.
Is that pretty much the normal time frame? I would guess most were 2 years.
thanks
if you attend the program full-time, i believe most programs are 2 years. upenn's program is 16 months because you do not have the summer off. i did a little research when i was applying to graduate school, no matter the length of the program, the clinical hours and lecture hours usually add up to be about the same. hope this helps :)

Vanderbilt's program is three semesters; if you already have your BSN...
I'm currently in the FNP program now, it's the shortest program that I know of.

thanks for the info
BTW,
I was wondering can you apply to a FNP program right out of your BSN? I have always wanted to be either a PA or a Nurse Practitioner. Thanks for giving me some feedback.
(My previous HC experience includes 23 years inpatient Psych AND 12 years as a Hospital Corpsman)
Thanks for the replies.

You most certainly can apply right out of school. I would apply to as many as possible. At least you can say you tried and by the way, make sure they know your a veteran- it certainly helps! I put that down on my application and that was one of the first things they asked me about, and of course, the one asking the question was a former Army Nurse!

Stanford has a 15 month program. You come out with an FNP and PA certificate. No MSN though. Only good for CA (Except PA-C)

Hey BigRanger........would you care to share your experience at Vanderbilt, Please!!!!!!!!!!! I started a thread titled "Anyone from Vanderbilt" and so far no replies. A friend of mine attended, but in the Psych NP program. She was grateful the program was so short. I would like to get more info about the FNP program. Are you attending via distance?
I did see that several nurses on the Tennessee forum were bashing Vanderbilt. E.g., "doctors in the Tennessee area wouldn't hire Vanderbilt grads because they don't know anything when they get out," etc.
Thanks in advance!
