Wow...from a student

I had to post today because it was my first clinical in L&D. I am SO pumped because I got to see a birth!!!! It was such an emotional and blessed experience to witness. It was so awesome as a student to see the ways in which L&D nurses touch the lives of others in such a special time! I find each and every one of the L&D nurses to be so lucky to have such a super job. After my experience today, I can say that L&D is on my short list of places that I want to spend my nursing career!

Hope that you guys all know how special you are!

Congratulations on witnessing your first birth ... this experience will stay with you, no matter how many more births you participate in! Your "wow" experience is likely a good indicator that this may be where you need to be! I'd suggest you look around where you live for a doula training course. This will teach you labor support skills you won't get in nursing school, invaluable training on how to be with a woman in labor. Also look up authors like Penny Simkin. Good luck and best wishes in your future career!

Congratulations on your experience. I can only imagine how exciting it must have been. :)

I am so happy for you; you sound truly inspired. Glad yours was a great experience.

:yelclap:
