Wow...what a day...

You know...I've done 5 shifts.....and I'm feeling halfway ok with workflow and doing the tasks...then I get a patient who just sucks the life outta ya...had sx, doesn't wanna move, when she does move she's in pain....then she's on a PCA for 2 days, takes some oxy for pain...says 9/10 all the time, even when you go in and she's drowsy and asleep....

What can you do? They don't wanna move, and they don't understand that in order to get better...major surgery involves pain...such is life...

Pain consult? Psych consult?

I hear ya. I usually start lectures on pneumonia, DVTs and constipation. Sometimes it actually works. :( None of us want to see a poor outcome from a surgery that others recover well from.
