Hi everyone..
I graduate my LVN course in 3 weeks. I've heard I can work as an Intern/un-licensed nurse before the NCLEX. I just need to go to Sacramento to get my temporary license, which I must surrender when I take my NCLEX. Has anyone here done this path? Was it worth it? I am recently single with 3 children and I need to start working ASAP!!! any advice would be great..thanks!

After you graduate, you are considered to be a GVN/GPN. They usually pay a little bit less than when you actually pass the NCLEX and become an LPN/LVN. I have heard of some people working with their permit and they seem to like it.

Around here most new grads go to work as GPN's before taking NCLEX. You can do many of the duties you will once licensed so it sort of gives you a head start.

I worked on a temporary license for 4 weeks until I received my official license. It was well worth it for me.

In PA you can work on a temporary permit which is good for one year. Due to a strained financial situation, I actually missed 2 days of work because I was unable to schedule my NCLEX before my temporary permit ran out. All is well now though. I certainly gained lots of experience in that year.

Hi I got a question I'm in my second term we just started clinicals so how long is it until we get our permit or do we get them when we finish school? How does that process work? Thanks in advance

Hi I also just graduated and would like to know what you need to do to get a permit to work as a GVN in the state of CA. I believe it is worth it because you get a head start and experience. But just remember to study for the Boards. So what is the process and how much is this?

Wow!!! That is kind of scary, but I'm sure you will pass on the first try. I believe 85% of the people who take the NCLEX pass on the first try. Good Luck!!!
