Working Full-Time

It can be done, but it sure isn't easy. It all depends on your individual circumstance, if you have children or other outside obligations, etc. At my school the instructors advise against working more than part time if it can be avoided, and they suggest that you not work at all while in school (provided your circumstancces will allow it), so you can devote yourself to the work for school. Personally, I'm not working right now, but I have 3 kids, and I don't know if I would be able to work and go to school and take care of my kids. It would be too much for me.

Worst case scenario, try it and if it doesn't work out, you can try to find a job with less hours.

I just started nursing school and am scheduled to graduate January 2011. I have been going back and forth over this question about time management. I work full time right now and I think I will be able to work and study at same time. The few people who I have talked to have stated that I shouldn't try it, but at least now I have some input on people who have tried and completed it with no problem. I will make sure I study and keep up with the school work. Thanks for everything, I really appreciate all the help.

Like others have said, I think it depends on a lot of different things. Definately your academic abilities, your other time commitments outside of school, what you consider academic success, and other things. But I think the most important thing for your to find out is if Your Program, allows for that much time. Different programs have different requirements and expectations. At a guess, I'd say that in a program that is nights and weekends....you won't be the only one working M-F, 8-5.
