I am starting my first job as an LPN today and am kinda nervous. I will have 20 pts and am orienting to the medpass and such. They are starting me for a couple of day shifts and then I will be working 3-11. That is this week and then next week I am orienting with hospice for a per diem position as the first job is only 32 hrs a week. Anyone have any pointers as I jump out into this new job. Any advice is helpful. ty

Also, CONGRATULATIONS on yur first position.
I started my first position 8 weeks ago and all I can say is look at everything as a learning experience and don't get overwhelmed by the work, fellow-employee attitudes, or resident attitudes. ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS and don't be afraid of appearing stupid.

Carry a small note book and make a cheatsheet for your hall. That helped me a lot.

My only pointer is to utilize excellent time management.
Good luck with these two jobs. You are so very fortunate to have only 20 patients in LTC. Most LTC nurses have 30-55 patients.
