Next semester I have signed up for:
NUR 110/111 (CNA class)
BIO 205 (Micro)
CHM 151 (Chem I)
NTR 135 (Nutrition)
DAN 102 (Pilates)
The total is 19 credits (2 of which are Pilates). Will this courseload work or is this a set-up for failure? Open to any and all opinions and suggestions.
One more question: I have the option to swap BIO 202 (A&P II) for Micro. Would this make more or less sense? Would this make a difference?
Thanks,
Katie

Is this your first semester, or do you have solid study habits?? I would not take Micro and Chem, but I have 3 kids to care for and a husband that travels every week . . . so I guess it all depends on your life. Are you able to dedicate yourself?
Chem was hard for me and I've heard Micro is hard too, but only you know what your life is like. Good luck.

My schedule for next semester consists of:
A&P 1
Chem 1000
Soci 2000
Spa 1152
Math 1100
I think your schedule should depend on what other activities are you going to be apart of. Such as if you work, or have a family, or anything that takes up your time.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply. I took an intensive summer last summer and had a 14 credit Fall semester and worked 37 hours/week. I feel like I learned a lot from my work schedule this Fall. I kept my grades up, but it was too much work. I have scaled my work schedule back to 2 10 hour consecutive days and the rest of my days are completely dedicated to school. I do not have any children, and have a live-in boyfriend who helps with my bills, housework, (and is a fantastic cook). He is also understanding as he has a BA and two MA's. He knows school. I feel blessed in that regard.
If worse come to worse, I plan to hold off on Nutrition. I read lots of people struggle with Nutrition. Is it really that hard? It only meets one evening a week. I don't know why I am having a hard time believing it could be that hard!

Yeah, I've resigned myself to the fact that I am not going to have a social life when I am in school. My boyfriend is my number one priority, and he is very supportive. I make sure that no matter what else is going on, we have dinner together. Other than that all bets are off, and he does well with that.

I would not take micro & chem together, but I'm busy at home with a husband & 3 children too. Good luck hope all goes well for you. Some gals can and some can't , I was one of the "can'ts". I just couldn't take that large of a load and get the grades needed. My GPA surely would have suffered. whew. I am not a natural "A" person, I work real hard for the grades I get and envy those who get it so quickly. Best wishes!!!!!!

I would not take micro and chem together. I don't have any children and a husband, who will do all of the house work if needed. My concern is that both chem and micro requires a tremendous amount of memorization. If you're applying to nursing school, you may be concerned about your GPA. If you can, try to spread it out. If not, then, just buckle down. Best of Luck!

Your schedule will work if you want it to. This past semester I took Micro (w/ lab), Chem (w/ lab), and philosophy (which required weekly 2-3 pg writing assignments) as well as volunteering at a local hospital 2 days a week, teaching a 3 yr old sunday school class and being a busy mom of two and shuffling kiddos back and forth from school and ballet and swimming and AWANAs as well as keeping my house clean and all my "wife" duties...It can be done!
My GPA is a 4.0 and I work very hard to keep it that way!
Thank you all for the feedback! It really helps to know that I can do it, but that it will be hard. I'm just glad to have seen someone pull it off with a similar schedule.
A question for those that said they wouldn't take Chem and Micro at the same time. Would Chem and A&P II be any better? I may have that option as well.
Thanks in advance. It's good to have support out there.

I took micro and A&P II the same semester. I also took child psych and social ethics at the same time. I was very tough, but I survived. I was lucky in that I did not have to work, and had no children. Had the BF though. In order to do it I had to be well organized, and be able to spend lots of time studying. The housekeeping really suffered that semester! You sound like you have a good support system, and the time you need to devote to studying. If you are a good student, it is possible.
Good luck!
