Will I make it?

I am submitting my packet to the October board. However, I have hit a few snags. I had to submit extra paperwork in regards to my LASIK procedure. I've yet to go to MEPS and have my chief nurse interview. Just wondering if it is possible to get these last two requirements done before the September 20 deadline:confused:

nautticca - I strongly believe that where there is a will there is a way, but not always when working with the military system. I am in a similar situation and I feel like I am SO close, but that isn't good enough because my packet isn't complete. I would just follow up with your recruiter to make sure that you are doing what you need to do and state that you would really like to be ready by the 9/20 deadline. Will it help? Who knows. But if you don't try, that's guaranteed not to help. Good luck!!

Thanks Oaktown2- I'm so close I can taste it!!! Lol!!! I will keep trying. Where r u in your process?

I just recently went to MEPS and am now completing my background check and officer app (I'm trying for NCP). No one quite knows when the board will be meeting, but the rumor is soon. I still have my interviews to do so not sure how much that will slow things down. But I won't give up! :)

How was Meps? Do u find out if you're qualified the same day?

Long but not too bad. Definitely be prepared to spend the day there. I arrived at 5:00 and didn't leave until 3:30 and then had to have some additional labs done due to my age. Everyone was nice and helpful. And yes, for everything that was done onsite, you found out whether or not it was ok.

Thanks. Hopefully I can get to meps soon. I feel like my family's life is on hold. My husband is holding off on a promotion until I get an answer. I'm determined but also definitely ready for my packet to rest in the board's hand

I am with you on that sentiment. I feel like I have been stressing about getting my packet in on time and I just want it there so that I can briefly move on. Are you waiting for you LASIK stuff to be reviewed at this point? I had to get a waiver and once my additional paperwork was submitted, it went pretty quickly. (Maybe 2 weeks, but maybe not even that long.) But I do think they are trying to teach us something with this whole waiting game....

Yes I am waiting on my LASIK paperwork to be approved. I submitted it and apparently it wasn't filled out completely. My 3 and 6 month follow-up prescriptions were left blank by my md(according to him I don't have a prescription since my vision is now 20/20). After a few rounds of back and worth between my md and the chief medical officer I finally resubmitted my paperwork yesterday. Called my recruiter today and she stated the medical officer and the military docs are going to have a conference about my paperwork since it wasn't completed the first time. She also said if They DQ my paperwork we will have to submit it to the surgeon general. I'm confident that if we have to do that I will not make this board. Uggghhhh so frustrated, but yet still motivated:)

Hope it doesn't get DQ'd!

Are you both nurses? How much experience do you have? I ask because

there is an experience requirement this year. I am submitting my packet

to get back in after a break in service (in the Reserves for now). I

have heard that it will be incredibly difficult to get back in this year

because of all the cuts they have made. Have you guys heard the same

thing?

Yes I am a nurse and have been so for 6 years. Yes I have also heard the same thing about all the cuts.
