Will I get bored?

So I am having an internal dilemma. I have moved across the country and am about to start working at a smaller level 2 trauma center. I am coming from a county chaotic level 1 center with 10 hour wait times for patients and doing the trauma team. I'm not sure how the transition will go as this is a smaller private hospital. Any advice?

There is really no advice to give..this sounds like one of those situations you will have to decide on once you get there and see how the hospital flows. You knew in advance this was a smaller scale so ask yourself why you chose it over what you were doing...10 hour wait is a long time..wow..anyway..give it a chance and if you find it's too slow for you - move onto something bigger. You have the experience for sure.

Not sure what the dilemma is, as you've already made the move and taken the job. My advice would be to treat the new job as a new start -- if you walk in there already with a mental checklist of how it's different from your old job you will be setting yourself up for unhappiness.

Don't count on a smaller hospital being boring. Just because they are not "trauma" certified does not mean that trauma patients will not come in. I am from a very busy rural community hospital and although we have to send out all of critical and trauma patients, we are ALWAYS slammed busy and taking care of critically ill patients. It's always a challenge to care for patients who need a trauma team, but there is none. Don't second guess yourself, there is a reason you took the job, it is a whole new adventure! Good luck!
