I am writing to get the opinion of fellow nurses.
here is my situation.
So far I have not been able to land my first nursing job because of lack of experience. What should I do to gain experience or is it too late now that I have an RN license? I am thinking of attending an EKG certification course and then getting ACLS certification. Will these certifications offer any advantage to land my first nursing job?
thanks in advance.

It is never too late. Gaining certifications will definitely put you at an advantage. When comparing one RN without experience to another, your certifications will allow you to stand out. I am not sure where all you have applied, but, try applying to other facilities besides hospitals. There are many clinics, physician's offices, and nursing homes that will allow you to get some experience while you await the job that you want.
Keep putting in applications, keep sprucing up your resume, and keep getting certified. Eventually, someone will give you a chance. Landing your first nursing job can be difficult, but, you can do it. Also, would you be able to re-locate at all? Commute? Those are other options.
Do you have any clinical instructors or fellow graduates that might know of any open positions anywhere? Use your connections!
Best wishes.

Any cert will help, but I wouldn't bother with EKG and then ACLS. Just go right with ACLS.
There are interviews I've had only because I had ACLS. What do jobs in your area require?
