To give you guys a laugh. I'm a complete idiot. I get 2 days off(cheer for me! I did get about 5 texts and 3 phone calls to work these 2 days and I said.. Gasp NO.. Harry Potter opens tomorrow!!) I end up with a Paronchyia!
I cut a hangnail too close and batta bam I swelled up like a beast.
I go to my PCP, he can't I&D at the office so he sends me to Urgent Care (who can!)
I go to urgent care, book in hand ready to sit and wait. I get in the room (within 30 minutes I might add!) and The PA comes in to look at it. She looks at me and says "I need to do a digital block-YIPPEE- and drain this. I said okay. She said "Why didn't you go the the ER?" I about coughed. I said "Well, 1st it's NOT an emergency, and 2nd I'm not paying a $75 co-pay, when I can get what I need done for $35) she goes ohhhhh well most people would go to the ER for this? I looked at her and said, Well, I'm not most.
They drained it, gave me Vicodin, Abx and I'm not a happy hyped up girl. but really? If urgent care has this attitude isn't this why we have so many issues?
hmmm.

You know, I work in Urgent Care, and most of our doctors do this there. In fact, I love that kind of stuff!! I&D's are more interesting than UTIs and back pain.....
What a weird thing for that PA to say! Our clinic is to take away from the ER and do the urgent but not emergent things. Hopefully you are going to be able to watch Harry Potty without the wonderful loopy feeling of vicodin!!
