Which Nursing Book?

Published

Hello All,

Just wondering... which book is more useful, or do any of you have BOTH?

'Professional Nursing' by Chitty/Black

'Fundamentals of Nursing' by Potter/Perry

Thanks!

p.s. Or... is there a better one out there?

Can you go to local bookstores, including student bookstores where there is a nursing school, and take a look at the books? It is up to you which is more useful to you. My med surg text had very thin paper pages, like very fine newsprint. For that reason alone, I hated that book. It was so difficult to use.

Specializes in Tele/Neuro/Trauma.

For Fundamentals, get the Taylor's Fundamentals of Nursing. It's one of the required EC texts anyways, and even if you don't use it for the exams, you will need it for the FCCA. :-)

For M/S textbook I have the big Brunner, Sudarth and Smeltzer text that EC recommend.

I got all of the required texts on Ebay for less than $200, but honestly, I did not use all of them. In fact, I am really trying to get rid of some LOL, I have too many

Thanks, Beachnurse... I found the Taylor Fundamentals on Ebay, bought it today for a good price. I also got the Brunner Med Surg. Ebay is a wonderful thing... :)

Hi Caliotter,

I did go to both of the bookstores here, I seem to recall some books were the same, some were different. I can't remember if either was the same as what EC recommends. (It's been a while since I did that...) Thanks for your suggestion... maybe I'll go by again.
