Which Class to Take???

Hi everybody,

In order to make my schedule full (16 sh), I need one more class to put in my schedule. I am finishing up the last of my prerequisites this Fall, which is just 12 sh. I need one more class in order to satisfy the Illinois grant, which states that 15 or more sh is considered full-time. So this class won't go towards nursing, but may be a class that can be beneficial for myself. After searching on my school's website, I found 2 classes that seem interesting, Histology and Behavioral Neuroscience. Which class should I take? :uhoh21: Have any of you taken any of these classes or know of them, if so, how was the class? Thank you for your time.

Wow, what great options. I haven't taken either, but I think I would lean towards behavioral neuroscience... but that's mostly because if I could do my undergrad career all over again I would have majored in neuroscience. Do you know either of the professors or other people who have taken the classes to get their take on the courses? Either way, good luck and enjoy.

Dependent on what courses you are taking, maybe you should consider taking something lighter--the only reason I am suggesting this is because once you start the nursing program you will be SLAMMED--this would be a good time to get your GPA WAY up and taking one class that isnt too stressful and is actually fun might be a good idea. Both of those classes sound somewhat involved and are probably work intensive.

If you really want an additional class that would be helpful, I would suggest pathophysiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, or even abnormal psychology.

Behav. neuroscience is a psych class and would be useful if you are going into mental health nursing--but I think abnormal psyche would be even more useful at this level. Histology is microscopic A&P as far as I understand it which would be fasinating especially if you intend to go into research, advanced practice or med school at some point. Both good classes but pretty focused.

I still vote for art appreciation, music, drama, etc--something that rounds you out in another way! :) Of course, I dont know your background or anything...

Good luck making your decision!

I haven't taken histology by itself, but its been a big part of my other science class. Even diving a little into the subject required a great deal of time. I think it would be really interesting, but will require a great deal of lab time, microscope time, reading, and memorizing a photo atlas. It would be BIG committment.
