Where to start....need advice

I just started with Excelsior to earn my RN. I'm a motivated person and was super excited to get my books and get started!! So now I have my Microbiology book and study guide...but I'm just staring at them trying to figure out where to start. Has anyone else had this experiance? How did you get going? Thanks in advance for your help!!

I would look for supplemental study guides or notes and perhaps buy an inexpensive one. Also, in the bookstore, you should be able to find a "Cliff's Notes" type condensed version that might be helpful. Get a calendar and create a study schedule. Then, dig in. If there are practice tests available for this test, maybe take the first one to see where you stand. This will give you an idea of what EC is looking for in their test questions. Good luck.

I took my Content Outline, & wrote it out with answers and definitions along the way.

Example:

Intro to Microbiology

A. Early History

1. Discovery of microorganisms

then I'd write out notes on what the text said about it.

Then each day I'd read my outline with answers for review and begin where I left off.

I got a B on the test using this approach.

Hope this helps you. Good Luck :)
