Where to start classes!

I'm have trouble finding legitimate places to even start getting an education towards a CNA. Tons of listings bombard my searches and I just feel very overwhelmed.

All the CNA programs advertise that they are the best pick, so that doesn't help me at all. I could just pick one, but I may just end up overpaying.

What should I do? I want to get a CNA to start my career towards becoming a RN.

    You can call several places and ask for the cost! ...ask WHAT that cost includes. Some places include the cost of a uniform, usually one set of scrubs that are a specific color for the program that you keep afterwards, and the cost for state testing, which is usually between $100-$200.

    I went through my local Red Cross and paid around $1400.00 and it included the uniform and fees for state testing. My state also reimbursed me for the entire class after working in a nursing home for 6 months so, ask about that too!

    I went through my local ccommunity college to achieve my certification, so definitely check into yours as well.

    As far as the cost goes, it was right around 650 and I was actually able to achieve a grant for the whole program. Now that covered everything except for uniforms. And depending on where you go, you can find some really inexpensive scrubs.

    Also, there are some nursing homes that have state approved cna programs which are completely free, BUT requires you to sign a contract stating you'll work for them for so long, after becoming certified.

    Look for courses given by the American Red Cross, Regional Occupational Centers, or at community colleges. They should be better for you, cost-wise and quality-of-program-wise, than proprietary courses.
