Hi,I have had numerous offers to shadow nurses and doctors. I am just finishing my first semester of nursing school (16 months to go) Do you think that shadowing would be helpful now or more so in the future as I get closer to graduation?t

Couldn't hurt now. If you've had numeous offers, you're in a good position. You could take some of them up on it now and some later on down the road.
Thanks Eric:) I am just afraid of getting too ahead of myself I guess. GI, Peds,ER, or Cardio?????? Not sure what I want to do and I am worried about wasting their time telling me about their field.

My daughter is 16 and wants to be a nurse. She is still in high school, has not even taken her ROP class yet. She has shadowed me many times in the last year, with the permission of my manager and HR. Never too soon!!

I would definitely shadow sooner rather than later. It gives you the opportunity to see the nurse in action, and it can also give you an idea of what the nurse does in each setting (ICU, ER, OR, etc.) and possibly guide you to what area of nursing you'd like to practice in. Go for it!
