When should I start applying to LTC facilities?

I am going to be graduating in March with my ADN and am planning on taking the NCLEX in April. I want to work in LTC, but will also apply everywhere else. I notice that many LTC facilities do not have an online application or a place on their website that advertises job openings.

With that being said, when should I walk in and hand in my resume, cover letter, and fill out an application? I was thinking in March, the same month I graduate? If I walk in before I graduate or before I am licensed, what should I say in person? Thanks everyone.

I would go to all the local facilities and fill out an application. You might not get an interview, though, until you actually have a license. The hiring process is long and costly. I wouldn't want to go through all that only to have the prospective employee flunk the boards.
