When is a good time to take the PN NCLEX?

Test taking is my weakness. We've always taken Kaplan after every quarter. I've only "passed" one (and actually did really well) but the rest were a few points of "passing". We took the comprehensive kaplan on the same day as our final and honestly, my final was more of my priority. I practiced some questions the week before but did not review anything related to kaplan prior to taking the comprehensive test. I was actually 3 points below passing, which sounds bad but was very happy with. I figured, once school was over, I had TIME to sit down and STUDY NCLEX questions (rather than worrying about presentations, care plans, hw, etc... while in school).

I spoke with the director with this and she understood where I was coming from (she also confessed test taking wasn't her best). Kaplan has encouraged us to take it 2 weeks after graduation because we still remember but honestly, all the stuff I ever studied for in nursing school is not in my head. I remembered it temporarily and was stored as "short term memory" (you know how busy it was with so many things going on). Anyhoo, I figured I would give myself a month (since I'm lucky and not working now) to go through NCLEX questions on my own and with a group 5 days a week. We're also enrolled in that Kaplan class sessions and got a book to review "test question strategies". Think that's a good plan? Oh and I had a teacher that tried to freak me out (more than the director) and it didn't help she sent me statistics insinuating I was going to fail my NCLEX because I failed the practice comprehensive test. IT'S A PRACTICE TEST, LADY! It's not like I"m going to take my NCLEX tomorrow. Anyhoo, any advice? Suggestions?

PS: During the comprehensive Kaplan practice test, I realized the test was much more simpler than I thought it was going to be. It was all about nursing assistant delegation...

I took NCLEX just over a month after graduation, I did the ATI review and I had the Saunders review book and used that to study. We had some people take it in 2 weeks and they did good, as soon as they got their ATT. Good luck!!
