What's with the letters??

I have received more than 3 letters from ARH in the past 2 weeks stating the need for nurses and how great the bennies are if a nurse works for them. I can only guess the board sold my name to them. I feel I should be able to request my name not be sold to anyone, but that does not seem possible. I have also gotten some letters from agencies, both in state and out of state. Now, I know I have never had any contact with these folks, so the board has to have given them my name too. How do the rest of you feel? Do you want your name sold to facilities and agencies for info on jobs or do you think this is an invasion of your private rights?

I don't think it's necessary for the BON to sell our names--anyone can go on their site and look them up. I'm not thrilled with the loss of privacy, either, but our licenses are a matter of public record. I guess I don't particularly mind the occassional job offers--it's nice to be wanted. The bulk of my junk mail is related to my credit cards and car insurance, who do sell my name. But what're ya gonna do?

Thanks for the input. It's been too quiet. LOL!

I'm an advanced practice nurse and believe me, get a lot of junk mail offering me the chance of a job of a lifetime! Unfortunately, I'm okay where I'm at for now.

In IL - all you do is go to the website and away you go!

I have gotten a few letters I think from Thomas, I wish the board would not sell our information like that. The board's website does not list the complete address so they depend on the board for our mailing information.

At the very least they should give us the opportunity to opt out of things like that. I currently love my job, hopefully will retire there so it is just a waste of their paper (and the environment) to mail me stuff. I dont know that I would even know how to work as a RN now.

i haven't rec's any mail like this, so maybe they got your name somewhere else?

Hello and Good Morning,

Are you an RN? It seems these letters are from hospital facilities specifically wanting RN's. Yes, I do know my name could have been obtained from somewhere else. It just seems to me we should have the option to deny the different parties the use of our names. Have a good day.
