What's your census?

Specializes in hospice, pediatrics.

Just wondering what most nurses' census/caseload is currently? We have 3 RN's with 14 pts a piece and one LPN. I am curious as to what everyone else is doing these days.

I have 14 pts...it's been a busy week:uhoh3:

Specializes in ER, ICU, Nursing Education, LTC, and HHC.

I am the DON, and I see patients too. I have 10, (most are seen 1-3 times a week) one of my staff nurses has 9 and most are 2-3 times a week also.

census is 31 total (we are a small HHA) Another nurse has 7, (all in the same ALF) and one other nurse has the rest.

Specializes in Addictions/rehab, mental health, hospice.

I seem to be averaging around 14 patients right now. Of course, our entire agency has over 600 patients on service at the moment. :balloons:

Right now I have 7. I have never had more than 14, and that is rare. I get 3 dollars per hour on-call. My cell phone is provided by my employer.

I work for profit agency. Our census right now is 21 (just put 2 on today). We have 2 nurses so they average 10-11 patients. Seems to work pretty well. Anything over 23 I see. (I am PCC) Our employer provides our cell phones. I am salary and take call every other weekend. I don't get any extra for going out! :o It actually works out pretty well. If I spend long hours out over the weekend or in the evenings I take a day off during the week.

Thanks for the info... we have 76 patients right now and 5 full time rns, 2 parttime rns and 1 LPN... we are salary at 20.00 an hour, we get 15.00 for call mon - thur and 50.00 fri, sat and sun, also holidays... we pay for our own cell phone, get milage of .30 per mile from home to home...if we go out on the week end , it is double the time... a open is 4 hours, instead of 2 and a routine visit is 2 hours..which then if you get over 6 hours , you get a day off during the week. if you do back up call on the weekend, we dont get paid unless we go and do a visit...
