What's the best RN to BSN program? EMU or OU

I am trying to decide what's the best program RN to BSN while working full time and taking care of your family at the same time. I have been a nurse for a year now and would like to get my bachelors soon. However I want something convenient and not that expensive.

Does anyone have any knowledge of any of these schools? Oakland University or Eastern Michigan? If so, let me know. Thanks

I am interested in this question too, I will be graduating in December. Can I ask you how your first year went as a new nurse? I am getting anxious. How were boards? Everything is coming at me really fast, and I will be doing my last semester starting this August, the reality of going out on my own is kind of scary, yet exciting as well. Yes, same feeling here. When I graduated in May of 2007, I started studying immediately for my boards for two months then anxiously took my boards and passed. I was a nurse tech for a year while in nursing school, which helped me alot into transition of becoming an RN. I learned a lot on my floor and other floor because of getting pulled occasionaly to other floors. It has been a journey and I almost can't believe a year has came and went. Now being a nurse for a year now, I feel ready to go back to school but I need to go to a school that is convenient and not as time consuming like an getting an associates degree was.:nuke:

You will have to double check this information (things seems to change all the time and I could be totally wrong...), but when I was looking into OU for a second-degree option, I believe they said that except for one class, the RN-BSN is done entirely online. That could be a big plus if you like those kind of classes and have to work in the evenings.

I'm at Oakland University I haven't taken any of the RN to BSN classes but they are all online. Most of the general education courses are online also. I'm almost done with those and will start taking the RN courses in January. It just depends on what you are looking for. I like OU because taking online classes does not bother me and I need to be able to work full-time.

At our job fair earlier this year, I spoke with the EU recruiter who assured me that the BSN degree out of EMU was the lowest priced option of any school that was at our fair. She was very spunky and informative.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have my application online for the Nurse Tech position, but no calls so far. Some hospitals offer the RN to BSN through their hospital and pay up to 80 % of your tuition. Did you look in to that with your employer? I know Oakwood does it, and I think a few others do too. That might be an option. I am glad your first year went by fast. I am so excited to start mine. Life outside of school? I can't even imagine right now, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I was just looking at U of M Nursing School, and they have the RN to BSN to MSN program, that sounded interesting. You can go on their website and request info be sent to you.
