What type of PICCs are you placing?

Just looking to see what other facilities are placing for PICC lines? We currently use Angiodynamics Morpheus Power PICC but have been having some issues with the hubs cracking or leaking. We are considering trialing another brand possibly Bard. Just wondering what other PICC teams are using.

    For the last 24 years, we've been using Bard's Groshong Picc's. Not only because they are repairable, but they do not require Heparinization, thus we avoid HIT. They are good catheters and especially appropriate for the populi we serve. (We use their Midline catheters too)

    At one job I use Bard Power PICCs (5Fr-3Fr) with Bard Per-Q-Caths for midlines.

    Other job we use Bard 4Fr Per-Q-Caths almost exclusively.

    Bard has about 80% of the PICC market.

    We are currently using Angiodynamic Power PICC. We did, at some point, have the problem you are describing of the hub becoming disconnected and/or cracking. We took it back to the manufacturer. They pulled that lot and corrected the problem. Since then we have had no problems with cracking or disconnecting hubs. The current issue we have had is with them is kinking after placement. We continue to use them as they have one of the lowest rates of DVTs on the market.

    We had issues with the hubs cracking with the Angio Dynamics piccs also so we went with the Bard Power picc. We just started using the 3CG system a few weeks ago. Love it
