I applied to a place that I really liked recently. I sent my resume first and then recieved an email shortly afterwards, asking me to fill out an application. I filled my application out last week and turned it in on this past thursday. i have not recieved a call for an interview or contact through email. It's about 5 days now.My issue is, another place that I applied to, would like me to fill out an application to "complete the hiring" process. I wouldn't mind working at this place, however, I really like the other place too...How long should I wait before I contact my preferred place? I do not want to turn down an offer from another place, but I also would hate to pass up the preferred place just because they took longer to get back with me.Any thoughts?

Why not complete the app for the second place. It isn't like they are going to offer you a job tomorrow and only give you 5 minutes to make a decision. Plus, more options is always better for the job seeker, IMO. Good luck.
Should I contact the first place to remind them of my interest?
That's up to you. I always ask the question when I can expect to hear something back whenever I speak to someone. This serves to avoid the crazy speculation about what might be going on. It also gives you justification for making contact and following up. If ey said you will hear on Tuesday morning and it is now Wednesday afternoon, no one is going to hold following up against you if you do it in a professional manner. It could even be seen as a positive in that you are proactive and thorough.

Approach every opportunity as if it is the one you really want. Until you have a job offer you have nothing to be hesitating about.
