Hi all, I have applied for a graduate entry nursing degree that takes two years, starting in 2013. As my first degree was in psychology, its been quite a while since I've studied any biology/science, and my maths is pretty rusty. Im wondering what things I should be studying before I start, there were no pre-reqs but I think in first semester we 'catch up' on all of first yr/part of second year A+P and move through things pretty quickly, so I'd like to be prepared.
Thanks
Bump! anyone?
Also, do you think prep. anatomy courses are worthwhile? there are no pre-reqs but it might be worthwhile, not sure if its worth in for $500 when its probably things that will be taught in first semester anyway

My biggest suggestion is to start practicing NCLEX style questions. Once you get into the nursing program, the tests/exams will be completely different from what you are used to. You have to think like a nurse using "critical thinking" methods in order to figure out the BEST answer. So either through apps, or books, start practicing early!

I'd say NO to the NCLEX style questions for now. There are "pathology made easy" and "pharmacology made easy" books that you may want to consider so it all seems familiar and not strange. That too can be very confusing if you don't have a strong base. If look for online "games" to help you get basic A&P down.

I would just get an older A&P book and save some money. If you are unsure about math get the incredibly easy Med math (at least I think that is what it was called) you could also get the med/surg incredible easy book. I read it before school and now reference it. Not sure where you live, but I am in Florida and I wish I would have taken Spanish. I took it way back in high school and tons of jobs here prefer you speak Spanish. I know a few words but not so many that I would want to say that I know Spanish when it comes to an application for a job.
I really do not think there are any classes that can prep you for nursing school.

i would say do A&P it does help, and if you can do pathphysiology that is totally killer! i dont know about your school but for ours we had to do english and 2 electives so try getting that out of the way
