Hi I start classes in 2 weeks and I've already read and studied the summer reading assignments. Any tips on what I should get a head start on reading?

I just kept on reading. I am trying to finish two of my texts before school start it two weeks. I may not get there but it's my goal. I figure the more I get done now the more manageable reviewing will be once the program starts.
That's a good goal! One of our textbooks is huge! And the summer reading assignments were all over the book so I'm not sure what to look at next. I've been studying the math portion which wasn't assigned but I'm nervous about that part. I just finished taking med term, a&p, radiography and med office mgmt for my AS in MA so it's still fresh in my mind. Hopefully that helps! I have a feeling from other people's posts who have started classes already, that we are going to dive right into a lot of information the first day and I just don't want to get lost! Good luck to you!

I read the first two chapters in my books and did all the activities. Second day into classes and not one class started with chapter 1:) We are checking off nursing skills. This weeks reading ( all 7 chapters) are regarding personal hygiene, transferring, eating and nutrition,ROM, and ambulation. Also a lot of math calculations this week. Maybe brush up on ratios and proportions and basic math (decimals, fractions, and percentages) . I would also familiarize yourself with your books. Some of my books also have websites. Does your program include ATI? There is a lot of reading you could do at the ATI website. My program uses ATI and we have lots of modules to do. I wish I could have started last week. Good Luck with your program. I felt overwhelmed today. I think once my kids go back to school ( next week) and I get a rhythm down I will feel better. It is so exciting.

That's why I didn't start reading from chp 1. I was afraid that they were going to jump around the textbook. My school does use ATI and so far I just did the initial assessment that was assigned to us. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to look into other things. I didn't want to go to my first day and have them say, you weren't supposed to start other readings. I'm just so nervous I don't want to screw up! My kids go back to school next week and I start on the 10th. What school do you go to?
Also, work on your flash cards! I would get Pharm, Med-Surg & A&P down now and casually work on memorization throughout the day. The more time you have with the material the better right?
Absolutely! I made flash cards for the chapters that I've already read and I run through them everyday. I'll definitely make some up for med surg, pharm, and a&p. Thanks for the advice!

If you have a calendar from class, I would suggest following that. It will guide you as to what is coming next in class... Hope this helps! Good luck
Thanks, I don't start until sept 10 and they didnt give us that at orientation. I wish they did though!

my instructor gave us the first two weeks, so we knew what to expect. try to stay ahead as much as possible. I though i had highlighted a chapter and to my suprise, it was highlighter free! my heart sank, but no more! (I'm taking a study break to eat dinner and wash my uniforms)
So back to work i go!
