What to review before starting ADN program?

Hi all,

I'm so excited to be able to officially post in the nursing student section (instead of pre-nursing, or nursing program sections). I start my ADN program in 2 weeks and I don't have my class schedule, textbooks, or syllabus yet. I feel like I should be getting a head start on something, so I figured maybe I should review my A&P. It's been well over a year (spring of 2012) since my last A&P class, and I feel like I've forgotten more than I remember. So what should I focus on to be prepared for the first weeks? I do still have my A&P textbook.

Or is there something else I should be reviewing?

Thanks!

Congrats! It couldn't hurt to brush up on A&P if you think you need it but I honestly wouldn't worry too much about "pre-studying" - the faculty will teach you what you need to know when you need to know it, that's what they're there for. Right now I'd just focus on getting your home/personal life in order and enjoying the last free time you're going to have for a very long time. :)

Yes I'd recommend you review anatomy as it'll help you with the lectures.

Any particular areas/ body systems? Unfortunately I don't have time to review the whole book...

Typically there will be a review chapter/section for each body system that'll be covered but nursing school instructors do not cover this. May be you could review those body systems you were weak in.

Cardiovascular.

I am OFFICIALLY DONE with my ADN program as of tomorrow 09/16 and what I recommend to all students is to start PRACTICING nclex questions now. I believe this helped me succeed because critical thinking is not easy for some. There are many great apps for phones out there. I have used ATI and several others. Also as soon as you start struggling talk to your instructors! Waiting until there is no way to turn your grade around is insane. I wish you the best of luck on your journey. It will be super stressful but worth it.
