Discussion

What are you researching?

This forum is pretty quiet.

Research nurses, what studies are you involved in?

I'll start. My first-ever study got ethics approval last week! It looks at cardio adverse events following ED discharge. We are also doing studies on pneumonia, asthma, syncope, and concussion.

I really like working in ED research. It's so gratifying to be involved in research designed to understand why these patients present to ED, and how we can prevent repeat visits.

How about you? (I understand that some of you are likely shrouded in secrecy, but maybe you can share in general terms?)

I work in perinatal research. Some of our studies:

Placental involvement in pre-eclampsia

Neurological development of infants of women who had prolonged premature rupture of membranes

Delayed cord clamping

The use of antenatal steroids in women with late preterm infants

The use of inhaled nitric oxide to prevent pulmonary hypertension in extreme premature infants

The genetics of chronic lung disease in premature infants

Diet and activity in women during pregnancy and how it affects fetal and infant growth

There are about a dozen more, but the above are some of them. I love my job!

Hi all!

How did you get into research nursing? I'd love to be involved in this field, but I'm not sure where to start. Any ideas? Thanks!
