Hi. My friend is here with me and is asking what happens when you accidentally wrote on lab values on the erasable noteboard before the test or while the tutorial? She took the NCLEX-RN 3days ago.
We know that it is called brain dumping or cheating? But what happens after? Because they are still holding the results now.
Are there cases that they still pass? Has anyone experienced that? Or they automatically fail? And never gave you a chance for your license anymore?
We know that it is against the rules. But sometimes you were just out of your mind because you were so nervous that you forgot the rules. Please help. Thank you.

Didn't they tell "her" not to write anything on it till after the exam begins? I don't know about having results on hold, but maybe you should both pray that's not the reason.

That's the reason she's on hold. They will review and make a determination. The rules are very clear writing anything on the board before the tutorial complete is not allowed. Brain dumping is considered cheating.
After the audit and hold is lifted there are few possible results:
1 They may decide to release the results (pass/fail) without repercussions. The incident will be reported to the BoN per policy.
2 they may invalidate the results, report the incident to the BoN but permit her to retest. Forfeits $200 but given another opportunity to retake per BoN protocol (45-90 day wait)
3. May invalidate results, report to BoN, she forfeits $200, but is penalized by the BoN and must follow their direction (extended wait for retake, CEU class required, etc)
4 if essentially determined to be blatant cheating, results invalidated, forfeit $200, reported to BoN, public sanction & discipline by BoN and barred from becoming a nurse.

Anyone who is "just out of his mind because he was so nervous that he forgot the rules" probably has no business seeking a professional license that will hold the licensee responsible for decisions that require a clear and level head.
No, I don't think what your "friend" did is reasonable or normal. It is the exception, which is why she/he is currently in this predicament. Failure to follow the very simple rules of the testing site and the BoN results in actual consequences.
Those who DID follow the rules and DIDN'T start scribbling a cheat-sheet equivalent the moment they sat down at the site tend to not think it's no big deal, either.
You are given a copy of the rules when you check in. How many reminders does one need?
