They're more interested in the type of person you are, your personality, and what type of nurse you are likely to be.They'll ask your student experiences, strengths and weaknesses. If you interview for a particular type of unit, it behooves you to do a light review for that type of unit.i.e. Cardiac unit? What are normal vital signs, common mess, etc

Relax - no one expects a new grad to be a clinical expert. Be prepared to respond to 'common sense' questions about how you interact with co-workers & patients. You may be asked questions related to your views/values such as - to ensure quality care, which do you think is more important, X or Y?

Many organizations also use behavioral interviewing - which involves asking you to describe something that you have experienced. The question will be something like. Tell me about a a time when you found yourself facing an ethical conflict. You will need to respond by 'telling a story' of what happened. They may ask you to provide detail with follow-up questions like - What did you learn from that situation?

Relax and take a deep breath. Go ahead and admit it if you're nervous. Take a couple of clean copies of your resume with you. Do some 'homework' in advance so you can ask pertinent questions about the organization. Don't hesitate to ask about staffing ratios, the model of care used, educational opportunities, etc.
