What are the classes offered at LPN program and what textbook?

:)Hi all,

I am a bit of a slow learner and usually get accomodations for learning. I would like to pre study some of the subjects before going in to a 1 year intensive LPN program. Can anyone tell me the subject and if possible the textbook that is used for their LPN program? I plan on going to LaGuardia Community College, so it would be extra helpful too if you went there or are going there. If not any info would be great. Thanks:)

Congratulations on being accepted to the program and I can understand your eagerness to get started. However, there is too much variation between programs for anyone here to be able to answer your question. You will need to ask your new school.

FYI, most LPN/LVN clock hour programs are 1 year or less. Why is this one "intensive"? Is it part of a career ladder program tied to an RN school?

Hi NewtoNurseLPN,

Although nursing programs have many things in common, each program has its own curriculum and choice of textbooks. I suggest you get in touch with the nursing programs you are looking at and ask for copies of the syllabi. The syllabi should include the names of the textbooks the program uses and which chapters are covered. You may even find this information through your school's bookstore or through online class messageboards such as Blackboard.

You can also post on the Allnurses board specific to your area. Click on Region, then United States and then your state.

Good luck!
