What are my chances?

Published

Hello all and thanks in advance for any info or advice.

I'm looking into travel nursing as my next adventure and I'm wondering what my chances are for being hired and/or placed for an assignment.

I have 1.5 years experience in Med/Surg, 1.5 years in ICU, and 1 year of Psych. I've been a stay at home mom for the past 3 years and will need to get my license reinstated because it lapsed in that time. I have a compact license.

What do you think?

You will need recent experience first.

Welp, I've been picked up by an agency. They have me in mind for a contract in my desired specialty and location! Onboarding now :D

Be very careful. Something wrong if they want you over someone with recent experience.

I'm not foolish enough to assume that it's going to be the ideal situation or placement. I am quite resilient, however and know that if I can push through 13 weeks of a potentially bad situation, it will open some doors and I should have more options available afterward.

Please help me out with the company. I need an agency for travel nursing job ASAP. It's urgent. Thanks

Specializes in Peri-Op.

Id pick a big one with alot of options and primary contracts then. Think American Mobile or Medical solutions.

I have 2 great recruiters i have used in the past. Private message me if you want their info

Wow. Thanks Argo. You're very resourceful. I would be contacting you right away in private. I might have difficulties using the private chat because I don't really know this site well. My email [email protected].

As NedRN has mentioned I would be cautious with this agency who is so quick to on board you. I've never seen anyone get placed who has been out of the field for more than 2 years, but i wouldn't say it's impossible. Hopefully they have a direct contract and are able to get your foot in the door. However, if this doesn't work out I would recommend picking up a few Per Diem shifts for 6 months and then look at travel nursing again after that time. You have a ton of great experience so once you pick up some recent experience you finding a travel assignment shouldn't be a problem.

You made a great point. Thank you

Been in contact with a second agency. The recruiter offered to contact the facility I'm interested in directly to ask if they would be willing to make an exception on recent experience considering my other qualifications.

That's two agencies now.

That sounds great. Add or link me up with your agent
