I'm new here ! I plan on going to school next year for LPN or RN not sure which yet,but was wondering if I could study anything now to make school a little easier? I have a baby and would just like to make things AS easy as possible:) any tips? I've heard nursing school is super hard and I was home schooled so I know I have a lot to catch up on! Lol. Thanks!

If you haven't done pre-reqs yet then start taking a look at basic anatomy. Learn the bones, cell structure, etc.

If it is at all possible, I would recommend getting a job as a CNA. You get familiar with the hospital setting, you are more comfortable walking into your patients rooms, and you learn some background knowledge as you go.

If I had to start again, I would have to say both Anatomy and Patho.

Good luck!!

I had almost a year between acceptance & when the next class started. I continued to work, got A&P I & II, chemistry, English 101 out of the way. Had an easier first year, and could then go to work for awhile in the afternoon. So, either get some courses out of way, or take a course that may strengthen your academic success, or read whatever interests you on nurse.com, medscape.org or whatever else interests you.

Anatomy and Physiology :) I didn't find it too hard, it's just a lot of info. If there was a way to brush up on some Med-Surg stuff, that was worse I think. So many disorders and diseases, made my head spin :) good luck tho! I had a 2 year old when I got accepted, but with the help of family and friends Made it with As and Bs. Good luck!!!

I start the nursing program at my school in January. I'm trying to brush up on patho and start some pharm before it starts. I'm also reviewing A&P and nutrition a bit too. I would suggest to you to keep all of your books from your prereq science classes. You will need to refer back to them and they are great for reference!

Two things: A&P - especially the renal, cardiac, pulmonary system and how they work together.

Also, NCLEX style questions and how to study for them, how to take them, etc. Numerous guides for this exist, and I would definitely purchase one.
