I'm a pre--nursing student. As part of my winter quarter schedule, I registered for "CPR and First Aide for the Professional Rescuer." Upon completion and passing the certifying examination, will I be certified in basic life support?
What other types of life support are there in America? I know of CPR and first aide for the layperson. I also know of advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, and simply advanced life support (for pre hospital personal). What others are there?
Thanks.

Pre-nursing student, did you say?
Why would you want to overwhelm yourself? It pays to be ahead in the game, but at this moment, all you need right now is CPR. Except I'm wrong.
Yup, you would be certified to give CPR.

I'm a pre-nursing student, have taken both versions of the class, and I don't think the difference in the two is overwhelming. One thing that was different in the BLS for healthcare workers class was that it covered AEDs (automated external defibrillator).

I just took BLS and it covered CPR for adults, children and infants, use of AED, and choking in adults, children and infants.
