Hello,
I am new to the site and I hope I am doing this correctly. I have a question for whomever can answer. I have been looking at what I will need to take my N-CLEX (I graduate in Dec.) and I have been reading about needing an ATT to get an appointment to take the test. I understand what the ATT is but how and where do you get the letter from? Do you get it after you graduate? What do you have to show to get it? Or does your school automatically do it for you? I am very confused about this. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

hey just recently took my nclex here in ohio...the authorization to test (ATT) is either sent via email or snail mail after you grad. from nursing. either way you receive it...you have to take a copy of it with you when you go and take your nclex...they won't allow you to test without showing it first. I believe it just comes from your state's board of nursing. the school you grad. from will send your info. to the board..and the board will send you your ATT. hope that helps.

Once you graduate from school, you need to contact your State board of nursing. There is an application you need to fill out and whatever other paperwork they need, (i.e letter from dean of your school, transcripts, two passport photos). PLus you need to pay the fee for the license and the $200 to Pearsons (the test center) It will take about a week to get your ATT letter it is sent by email. Make sure you print it off and keep it in a safe place because you need to bring it to the test center the day you test

The ATT actually comes from Pearson VUE, the testing company that administers the NCLEX. In addition to the application and fees you pay to your state BON, you must also register with and pay a fee to Pearson Vue. You can do this at www.pearsonvue.com/nclex .
Be sure to check out our NCLEX Discussion Forum here as you prepare for the exam. Also, take a look at the 2006 Candidate Bulletin found at www.ncsbn.org for valuable info about how the NCLEX works.
Best of luck to you!
