What if you accept then decline before classes start?

Published

This question is specific to PCC. The short story is that a job offer in the six figure range will be coming down the pipeline around mid July. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot and decline it, particularly in this economy. At the same time, PCC wants a decision by the 15th this month. Does one have to put a down payment on classes there like many have had to do at OHSU and other private schools?

Specializes in NICU, Post-partum.

If it is 6 figure salary, then ditch the nursing school.

I think hat's her point. IF she gets the job, she's going to forgo nursing school but won't know for sure until July, right?

And you have to tell PCC by the 15th.

As horrible as it is, I would accept and come July, IF you get the job than notify PCC asap so they can call someone off the waiting list.

I don't *think* CC's have deposits but you will be busy buying scrubs, books, and other equipment so be sure to give them as much notice as possible.

Good luck!

Yes, you have it correct. I think I will say OK to PCC, then see what happens. Just wanted to get some public opinion.

I third the "say yes", then decline if the job comes through. People do it all the time; it's why schools have so many alternates!

I 4th it! Nice to keep your options open. That's what alternates are for and I'm sure you won't be the first ever to have to drop out before classes start. Good luck!
