my weekend story

Published

So, I feel like everyone is engaging in puberty talks and I just HAVE to tell this story that my son told me over the weekend.

He is in 5th grade and they will be going on a longer field trip later this month. The teacher pulled the class together to discuss expectations and what they can and cannot bring on the field trip. She mentioned that the girls can bring a small purse. She also mentioned that they cannot bring money to buy anything.

Now, being a nurse, I'm pretty open about discussing natural bodily functions and such with my kids because I don't want them shocked/horrified/embarrassed/etc when they get older. My son knew right away what the purses were for and didn't think anything of it. His naive friend, however did not. His friend started pitching a fit about how girls could bring purses, but the boys couldn't bring their wallets and why do they need the purses anyway. My son apparently just went up to him and says "dude, just drop it, you really don't want to know" and walked away.

Happy Monday!

Hahaha! Awesome. My twins are going for the puberty talk soon too!
