Dianah that is sad for your friend as his family, but good that he is in hospice now

Hi Ado

NJ22 hope the cold eases up

Tweety I hope the probiotic and cholestyramine makes a difference

Stars sounds like you had a productive day

Work was mostly good, did get a new case in the afternoon but was able to get it done before the day was over, an work ahead a little.  After work was grocery shopping and exercise.

Today should be a pretty ordinary day, just work and the usual exercise.  Might stop at the pet store, the cat's appetite is down and I'm wondering if she doesn't like the new food.  Might switch back to the previous one

Going to be a bit warmer today, up to 50. After today will be warmer but rather rainy

No avoiding this: I HAVE TO go to the pharmacy to pick up my Celecoxib because I take it BID and was out of it yesterday PM. This is one of the meds that tamps down the noise the gypsies make, so it is very important!

And with that I will get up, get dressed and go out to get my med! Watch me now......

Good afternoon.

I went to hot yoga this morning and it was HOT.  Went to Trader Joes and Publix for groceries.  I like frozen raspberries and Publix doesn't have for the last few months.  Weird.  TJ's has a brand that's cheap that I went to get.  Splurged and got a ready made tomato and mozzarella salads (as I complain about money).

Going to do some meal prep.  I've eliminated beans and tofu for now as I think they make my symptoms worse.  Going to also take a look at avocado as trigger.  Anyway TMI.  Unfortunately it means more animal protein to replace to beans and tofu.

Best friend stayed at his place last night.  Crazy neighbor has a foreclosure date in April.  Apparently he's inundated the lawyer doing the foreclosure with over 300 emails.

Hello all!

Joe, reliably feeding cats can be frustrating!  It seems there is no rhyme or reason to their preferences and changes of preferences...   Just keep at it!

Go No Stars!

Tweety, what a circus, with G's crazy neighbor.  A nightmare.  I hope, come April, it will be overwith!  (ugh - 300 emails?!!)  I hope your new meds help.  I know you prefer to eat vegan.

Today I may do some cooking and/or baking.  I have some granny smith apples waiting to be made into the apple crisp that dh loves.  Recipe calls for juice and zest of one orange, and I still have some blood oranges given to me by a friend, from her tree; I will use one of those.   I slept well last night.  Will exercise today and hopefully sleep well tonight also.  Dh has been arranging Disneyland reservations.  We actually got a reservation for Dapper Day this year!  One of the two assigned dates, at least.  Last year there were NO open dates available on the assigned Dapper Days.  Just poor planning.  This year there was ONE available date; the fall date is blocked out for us --- too close to Thanksgiving Week.  Oh well.  At least we get one.  And, we console ourselves that we "get to" dress dapper whenever we go, don't have to wait for The Event!

It is supposed to be in the low 70's the rest of the week, which will be nice.  Snow is melting fast, though, in the local mountains.  The eagles have TWO eggs now -- in clutch #2.  We still enjoy watching the nest cam, what a beautiful view from their nest, of Big Bear Lake!

Have a good afternoon and evening!

I will add to the TMI category of posts in the GM thread.  Got a GI referral for a colonoscopy, after a (+) FIT test.  Happy, happy, joy joy.  Last had one 25 years ago, been doing the FIT testing every year.   Back when I had the colonoscopy, like Tweety, I requested no sedation.  GI MD used a pediatric probe, and while there was about 20 seconds of pain as he negotiated the left colic flexure (had to look it up -- the first big turn), the pain left after he was through it, and there was no more pain.  I was awake as he imaged and withdrew the probe.  I'm to call tomorrow to schedule an appointment.

So, y'all are caught up!  I'd best get to baking that apple crisp...

It's a nice, sunny, 75 degrees with no humidity; just the kind of weather I like!

And it is kind of a 'gouda aphternoon' because I just sauteed some chicken sausages that have Gouda cheese in them. I put some 'oven steamers' in the oven (carrots and Brussels sprouts) and when all was said and done, I mixed them together. Pretty good. I HAD been thinking of SiL's sausage and egg noodles, plus I don't know what else she puts in there, but I don't have any cabbage, and that is for sure the third ingredient, and that is also good! Better not eat TOO MUCH, because I'm sure the Brussels sprouts could possibly provoke the IBS-D, and I don't want to do that. But, actually, like I said before, because of my nerves going haywire with you-know-who, that extended time of torture really greased the goose, and I think that is from whence sprung the IBS-D.

I spoke to SiL today and mentioned the request for some sort of 'vacation pay', ie about 1/2 month's worth ($400). She said she didn't know, but she'd mention it to BiL because he's the one who pays Nannie's bills, and right now Medicare is denying the hospital claim. I mean, REALLY? They apparently think a 96 y.o. woman with dementia and Alzheimer's and a fractured bone in her leg, that does not yet allow weight bearing, who can not be independent .... they're going to deny THAT? Anyway, she mentioned that it will 'probably' be sometime in April when Nannie MIGHT be released from rehab. SiL says Nannie does not really understand the concept of "no weight  bearing" so there's that, too. What do you bet that if/when she is discharged home, she won't recognize this house as hers. There will have to be another CG to work with her because I can't and won't be on duty 24/7, and I can't lift. So there's THAT as well.

The bad news is SiL's mother died Sunday, but the 'good' news is she did it in her sleep, so no suffering. Her heart just gave out. So, SiL is having to deal with all that, plus she has a cold. She actually called me to tell me they weren't ignoring me by not calling or coming by here. I told her I didn't mind at all, because that allows me to clean and neaten up at my own rate of speed, without being interrupted. I said I used to live alone, before I got married, and actually I kind of like it. Anyway, the funeral is Friday; I will not be going as I did not know her mom very well, except I did figure out when I met her, that she was a real dingbat. I'm not speaking ill of the dead, because everyone knew she was like what she was like. No secret there! And no, she and Nannie didn't particularly like each other. There was no fighting or mean-ness between them; they were simply from two different worlds, and kind of were merely polite, but didn't' engage socially even at family gatherings.

I gotta put the leftovers of my supper in the fridge. I still have to sauteed the beef I have, then add the potatoes and "Um-yuns" and broth to stew for a while. I found that by rolling the beef in flour before sauteeing it, it makes the beef more tasty and not so tough. Anyway, that's for tomorrow. And since I have to go out again to the pharmacy for 3 refills---- 2 of which I don't need yet ---- I can pick up some more carrots to add to the beef stew. Voila.

Okay, all for now.

PS: If I have to get a colonoscopy, I have to be sedated out of this world. When I had it done with, well, I can't remember the knock-out med they gave me initially, but the doctor said I groaned with pain through-out the whole procedure. And there's not supposed to be nerves in there, but I sure did feel every minute of it and I remember the doc telling the anesthesiologist SEVERAL TIMES to give me another push of the med because it was not working very well. The doc apologized profusely to me afterwards and said he would never put me through that ever again; he felt really awful about it. So I had future colonoscopies conked out in outpatient surgery at the hospital instead of at his office. (Still had to go through the nasty prep stuff, of course) but once it was over with, and I was coming out from under the anesthesia, I got a nice hot cup of coffee....mostly because I complained that they woke me up!

Tinker is barking her head off. I'll have to take her out and then give her supper to her.

Toodles----

Ohhhhhh, yes, the PREP!!  As I was 45 years old at the time, still I was aghast that the prep was used for the elderly, as it was difficult for ME to go through!  Ha!  And now I'm 70, and about to go through it again...

No Stars, I hope you are able to get some vacay pay.  Beef stew sounds good, but yes, gotta have carrots and potatoes in it!

I remember that when I was working at a hospital in Asheville, we had an old bedridden woman and they were pushing her full of GO-LYTE liquid and when she exploded, it was all over the bed and literally dripping off both sides of the bed. There were four of us nurses trying to clean her up and it was kind of useless, as every time we had to roll clean sheets + pads under her, she'd go again, so we had to start all over again! We actually put gloves on the front of our shoes to keep the 'results' from dripping on them; yes it was that bad! We got very giddy about the fingers of the gloves flopping around on the front of our shoes. It's a good thing the woman wasn't cognizant of the fact that we were laughing hysterically, practically crying with laughter. The supervisor cracked the door open and looked in the room to see what was going on, and she just looked for a minute, shook her head and closed the door. Which caused another round of hysteria among us. We did finally did get her clean enough, but it sure took a L-O-N-G while!

I don't care how many times I have seen The Fugitive with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones, it is still very suspenseful. A well made movie!

I'm not going to bed even though the movie ended, because the next movie coming up on AMC is THE ROCK, and the only reason I want to see at least part of it is because there is a man in it (an actor---David Morse---) who I used to babysit for when he and his sisters lived a few houses down from us. Of course, he said he didn't need a babysitter, and that I was only there for his sisters!  I'm thinking he was about 12? Anyway he and my brother were good friends, and I gotta tell ya, he was SOOOO funny and made us laugh so much! It is funny to see him as a 6'4" tall grown up because he was only 5' 6"  when I knew him. He has the build of his dad, and a facial resemblance to his mother, He also was a jail-cop in The Green Mile. So I know someone famous! Of course I haven't seen him since I worked at MGH in Boston, which was in 1973 or so. I walked around a corner and bumped into this guy and looked UP, and it was him! "Wow" I said, "You are TALL!  Anyway, I hope he is okay because I haven't seen him in any movies lately.

Okay, I'm through bragging. ?

Good Night! ?

For my last colonoscopy they used propofol. The next day I felt very unwell, doubled over with cramping and bloating, even though I had been walking. At the urging of a coworker (the health department physician), I called the office and they told me I had overdone it and I should take a nap. When I spoke with the GI later (he always calls with the biopsy results) he theorized perhaps I had a hematoma because I take Eliquis. I've since learned about something called post-polypectomy syndrome, which I think I had. I think they like propofol because you are done and out quicker, than with versed, which can take a while to where off.

Ugh, I think I am due this year for a repeat.
